LG Palk originated from Lillian Gertrude Palk, a female butcher who owned LG Palk in Plainmoor, Torquay during the 2nd World War. This was one of the six butchers’ shops owned by her family.
The Sage family took over the business from Lillian Gertrude in 1963 and in 1985 Kevin Bailey (Senior) started working for the Sage family as an employee. The Bailey family took over LG Palk Butchers in 1995, and at the age of 13 Kevin Bailey (son) started working with his father in the butchers’ shop.
When Kevin Bailey (son) took the Managing Director role in 2015 it went from strength to strength; building long lasting relationships with his customers, the business grew rapidly and outgrew local council inspections who referred them to the FSA (Food Standards Agency). Their advice was to have fewer customers or obtain a commercial unit. Consequently, the catering side of LG Palk was established in 2020 as Bailey and Sons Master Butchers.
