THE LITTLE BATCH STORY
Hello! I’m Kirsty – owner & maker at little batch.
I’ve found joy in cooking, baking, “growing your own” and foraging since I was a child.
Raised on the edge of Dartmoor, I learned these skills – together with a healthy respect for the natural world – from my parents and grandparents. I spent my formative years foraging in hedgerows and walking in the wild and rugged landscape on my doorstep.
Being raised in a home where there was always a demijohn bubbling away in the airing cupboard, led me to experiment with hedgerow based concoctions – from spirits and syrups to warming hot toddies! These experiments formed the inspiration for little batch seasonal syrups.
Like most people, I like to know what’s in my food, and to stay fit and healthy, but I also believe we deserve a treat from time to time too. I developed little batch decadent and bliss balls from endless experiments to pack those pick-me-ups full of goodness, and to make them a little less sweet.
I’ve made my own tea blends from my garden since moving to the Forest of Dean many years ago; I was lucky enough to inherit a garden filled with herbs. Lockdown gave me the chance to embrace the study of herbal formulations and tea preparations and there’s much to learn, but this passion along with my love for the beautiful area in which I live, is the inspiration for my herbal tea blends – which are blended by hand, using ethically sourced ingredients.
little batch started as a fun idea to gift homemade delights to family and friends – both for special occasions and as little surprises to boost their spirits during lockdown. After positive feedback and lots of encouragement, this seed of an idea grew into the little business I have today. I’m proud to have won some awards along the way, but having satisfied customers who come back time and time again is what really makes me happy!
I created little batch to share with you the things I love to make, for those times of day when we sometimes need a boost. I hope you enjoy them too.
